As part of safety management (standard OHSAS 18001), emergency situations were identified in relation to the Port’s activities.
Maintenance work on crane booms carried out by port employees is among the work situations indentified as being “at risk”.
In order to test the organisation of the CCI of Bayonne, the Basque Country in-house safety teams and rescue operations, an exercise was carried out where a victim situated at the end of a crane boom had to be evacuated; this exercise was planned and coordinated with the BAB Fire brigade (Anglet) and the GRIMP team from Hendaye (Groupe d’intervention en milieu périlleux – the team of rescue workers trained to intervene in perilous situations)
