In July 1, 2024, the port of Bayonne has changed governance. The New-Aquitaine Regional Council and the Bayonne & Basque Country Chamber of Commerce & Industry have partnered to create the Port of Bayonne Port Company, and invited the Landes CCI to join them.
The port company
Its missions:
- Managing “superstructures” (public facilities, embankments and warehouses): planning, maintenance, operating, development, etc.
- Implementing and financing dredging
- Towing (entrusted to a private operator)
- Maintaining and developing railway lines under concession
- Promoting and managing the economic tool
The New-Aquitaine Regional Council & the Basque Country Chamber of Commerce & Industry are bound by a Public Service Delegation Contract whose full text is available here.
