It provides a flexible interface with other railway operators present in the port area under concession.

All of these points confirm the Bayonne & Basque Country Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s actions and ambition to continually increase traffic at the Port of Bayonne.

A Proximity Railway Operator, to optimize the routing of goods

From 2014 axis 2 of the Guidelines for Regional Planning has provided for the promotion of multi-modal transport in the area under concession with the implementation of a local railway operator.

Since it was set up in January 2016, OFP SUD OUEST has facilitated the initial and final legs of goods flows from the Port of Bayonne to its hinterland, with all quays linked to the rail network.

In 2018 it extended its services by offering more efficient multi-modal transport solutions in terms of both the economy and respecting the environment. The former 1000 KW locomotive has now been replaced by two 1500 KW machines. This high-performance tool links isolated platforms to the hinterland, which is constantly growing to the benefit of local businesses. This tool is a key part of the services on offer from the Port of Bayonne, with a view to supporting policies aimed at helping industrialists reduce their carbon footprint.
